We can offer both flexible packaging as well as heat sealing equipment for your coffee packaging.  Most of our pouches can also be purchased with a one-way degassing valve.  These valves help allow the natural build-up of carbon dioxide in freshly roasted coffee to escape while preventing oxygen, light or moisture into the bag.  There are various coffee bag options available – remember that foil bags will have the best barrier for preventing oxidation.

Coffee Bag Options

  • Foil gusseted bags are the most popular option and will stand upright when filled. The bags have side gussets which can expand allowing you to package larger items.

  • Stand up pouches are gaining in popularity with coffee roasters; these bags have a bottom gusset which can allow the pouches to stand upright. Our stand up pouches have a resealable zipper allowing your customer to reseal the bag once opened.

  • Enjoy the best of both worlds with our new square bottom gusseted bags. Now you can get the advantages of a traditional bag along with those of a stand-up pouch. Our square bottom gusseted bags allow even the lowest density product to sit narrow and sturdy on the shelves without ever worrying about tipping over.

  • If simple and inexpensive is what you are looking for, then look no further. Flat pouches also known as pillow packs are widely used for office and restaurant service. Ground coffee or powdered mixes can be packed in a pre-set portions to take the guesswork out of measuring each time you prepare a pot of coffee or any drink.

Heat Sealing Options

Once the pouch has been selected, the pouches must then be filled with your product and heat sealed to prevent the bags from being tampered with.  To seal your coffee bags, we offer a variety of heat sealing equipment that can meet your needs.  Whether you are just starting your production and looking for basic and affordable units or faster production volumes with the option to print a date code or expiration date on the seal line.

Remember that if you choose a gusseted bag, a single element sealer such as your typical hand impulse sealer cannot properly seal through all four layers of the gusseted bag.  Do not use a hand or foot or automatic sealer, not even a 5mm sealer. We recommend using a direct heat (constant heat) type of sealer.  Direct heat sealers will maintain constant heat in both jaws.

With its sleek and compact design, the WNS-200D is great for smaller work spaces.   Our WNS-200D is equipped with a digital timer which creates a consistent and reliable seal each time –  the sealing arm is easily activated and will not result in operator fatigue.  For additional units we recommend for coffee bags, please see .

If you already have your bags and need a heat sealer option, we can test your bags on our sealers and send the samples back to you along with a video demo.  Just contact us!

We will be exhibiting at the upcoming Coffee Fest trade show August 19-21, 2018 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.  We are the sealing experts so stop by our booth #TT5 and see the sealers we recommend for coffee packaging.  Register here with code 84231 to receive 50% general admission.
